LION @ ORFC 2026
Care-Centred Facilitation, Justice workshops & a Caucus!
Happy Spring / Ostara / Equinox / Clocks Going Forward & a warm Eid Mubarak to all who celebrate!
Recaps of Oxford Real Farming Conference (ORFC) 2026 sessions are now available. For me (Josina) it was a joy to work on programming the Justice Strand with Solidarity Across Land Trades (SALT), Shared Assets and Dora Taylor once more.
It was the first year that LION ran a stall at the conference next to our beloved syndicalist comrades from SALT. If you have missed out on getting our Merch, our shop is available year-round.
Video recaps are available for the Black Agrarianism talk (with LION’s Marcus) and Beyond the Prison Fence (chaired by LION’s Sumayyah).
Audio recaps are available for Cultivating Sustainable Livelihoods, Land Access for BPOC Farmers, Disability Justice in Food & Farming, Building from the Land, and Folx Farm Food Access Pilot.
Please also have a listen to our Soil Sistars Leading with the Land & Sacred Earth Circles.
For the first time ever, Josina & Shared Assets’ Christabel delivered a pre-conference, care-centred facilitation workshop for Justice Strand speakers. We aimed to support facilitators to hold conversations responsibly, uphold the ethos of the Justice Strand and be empowered when engaging with discussions around land/work, trauma and colonisation. We received really good feedback from participants and look forward to bringing this workshop to our wider movements in future.
Thanks to all who attended our post-ORFC BPOC caucus, nourished by food from Zaatar Bake. Look out for photos and videos from this event on our insta profile. We shared a shortened version of our Visions of the Land proposal, featuring the visualisation we co-developed with Migrants in Culture, and some of our land project’s business plan.
We welcome donations to our Land Pot. Please get in touch with any specific questions, requests for more information or offers of support as we embark on this exciting stage!
We sang and danced together, celebrated some birthdays and ended the day with cee-cee Manrique’s speech they’d beautifully written for the ORFC Closing Plenary. We also screened the Growing Place short films from our friends at Material Cultures, watch here.
The call for submissions for ORFC2027’s Justice Strand is open, with a deadline of Thursday, 16 April 2026 at 12pm BST.
Please see LION’s new noticeboard for community announcements & events.
Hold onto this kind of joy wherever you find it. We hope it finds us on the land.
