Summer Soltice is upon us and the weather is warming up, welcoming in a glorious sunny season
LION’s Birthday Gathering
We are excited to celebrate our 6th year of existence. We’ve changed and grown, and we continue to evolve to this day. This event is a fundraiser with all proceeds going towards our Land Fund. This is a BPOC/Global Majority event. If you’re an ally or can’t attend but you want to support us, you can buy a Donation ticket. Get your tickets here!
There will be sauna sessions from 4pm to 9pm, live music from Chiron Choir led by Dr Hannah Catherine Jones, a Banjo workshop and performance from Island Girl and delicious Palestinian food from Bidchen Kitchen. Dee Woods will be conducting and opening ceremony at 6pm.
The past two years have seen us return to the land with our Dandelion Garden and our bourgening land strategy. We want to set up a land project near London for Black and People of Colour. A place where BPOC can connect to the land, learn skills, rest and heal, and build community. Often the countryside and even urban community gardens can be hostile places for racialised folks, that’s why our drop in Dandelion Garden volunteer sessions and our Fallow events have felt essential to our work. Moreover, we want our land project to be a space that is for us, by us and in service of racial justice, land justice and reparations.
If you can’t attend but you’d like to donate, there are donation only tickets here. You can also set up recurring donations here, buy some merch from our shop, or make a one off donation on our website here.
Reparations
We have been slowly updating our website and over the next few months you will find lots of new goodies. We’ve just published our Reparations page, which briefly explores our definition of Reparations, how it’s tied to our work, and the philosophy behind our understanding of Reparations. It also has a condensed podcast version of the brilliant talk between Dee Woods and Esther Xosei at last year’s summer gathering. Have a look and let us know what you think!
