Winter Holiday Vibesing โ

๐Yule Tidings and Merry New Yearย ๐
It's nearly the end of 2022 and we can't believe how much has happened. Josina welcomed a LION cub into the world! Marcus toured the world with his other job as tour manager for Big Joanie and Divide and Dissolve, Dee was also a globetrotter doing food and farming justice work in South Africa, Mexico, Italy and more. Sam held down the fort at LION and now is in Jamaica working remotely and we welcomed our newest LION collective member - Jamila! (modelling some t-shirts below).
This year we welcomed in-person events again, hosting our Open Eve at 198 Contemporary Arts and Learning, our closed BPOC Caucus at Phytology and of course the Cultivating Justice Wrap Party. With Cultivating Justice we released the TransPlants zine, reprinted the Gourds, Banjos and Callaloo zine, made some cute pins and T-shirts and one of the best podcast series in our opinions - LISTEN HERE! We're also launching the great research that Naomi has conducted as part of our Jumping Fences project at the Oxford Real Farming Conference in January! Next year we are hoping for more being-on-the-land time, more events, more slow internal systems and policy development, and planty-nature vibes. Thank you to everyone who has bought our merch, donated to our work, shared our resources and supported us in the small ways - like reading our fabulous newsletters ;)ย

LION & Cultivating Justice Merch
Hi Folks! We just launched T-shirts (woo woo) and we are also selling very cute pins too. You can buy both at our shop hereย (We won't be shipping anything until the New Year). If you've bought zines through our website and learned the strength of patience because we are often low capacity and a bit slow with postage, thank you for understanding and supporting us. Check out our shop here! Thanks to our models, Rudy Loewe and Jamila Versi <3
What we're watching/attending at the ORFC!ย
We are really excited about Oxford Real Farming Conference in January, just a few weeks away! The blended conference is a mix of in-person only, live-streamed and online only talks. We're excited to be able to attend in a multiple of different ways and look forward to connecting with fellow BIPOC attendees. We'll be launching our Jumping Fences Report, with our researcher Naomi Terry and Josina speaking on a panel on Thursday at 2pm. You can also catch LION babe, Dee Woods speaking about Care Incomes on Wednesday at 9am, UK food sovereigntyย on Thursday also at 2pm and Intersectional Struggles for Justice in Food Systems on Friday at 11am! Below you can find a list of haphazardly assembled talks that Sam thought would be interested. Particularly, Solidarity Across Land Trade's Building Workers' Power workshop on Thursday at 6pm, Farming Under Fire on Friday at 1:45pm.ย

We are slowing down, going into hibernation, tending to ourselves and taking the time to rest. From this Monday until January 9th we will not be responding to emails or taking on any additional work. In the new year we will be focusing on developing the systems and structures we need to serve the community and networks we represent, reflect on our learnings and challenging ourselves to be more accountable and transparent. Thank you for your support.ย
